Forget grilled marshmallows, we’ve taken braai desserts to a whole new level of deliciousness with these braaied berry shakes! Give it a try at your next braai.
MAKES 8 // COOKING TIME 30 min
2 cups mixed berries
Juice and zest of 1 lemon
½ cup sugar
1 tub vanilla ice cream
1. Heat your potjie (or a braaiproof pot) over medium coals. Add the berries, lemon juice and zest, and sugar.
2. Simmer for 8–10 minutes, until the berries are soft and the syrup is sticky.
3. Divide the berries between 8 tall glasses and spoon the ice cream on top. The hot berries will melt the ice cream to create a thick milkshake consistency.
4. Top with fresh mint and serve. Add a shot of vodka for an adult version.
